more about susie (me)

The basic stuff is probably in order: My name is Susie and I’m 22. I live in Arizona and I absolutely LOVE it here. I’m a towering 5′2” and I like to jam out on my double bass.

I’m currently pursuing a BA in Art History at Arizona State University. I love it! My interests are mainly in ancient, medieval, and renaissance periods, but I just love art! Once I get my degree (soon!) I plan to get my Master’s in Information Resources and Library Science and become a librarian. I love books beyond words!

Every night I crawl into bed and read for an hour or two before I fall asleep. – it’s my favorite part of the day! Of course, that is not the only place I read. I read where ever and whenever I can because… well, I LOVE TO READ. I especially love history books – fiction or nonfiction, it doesn’t matter. Just walking into a bookstore makes me giddy – it’s probably some kind of mental illness but I just LOVE books. I love the smell of them, the feel of them, everything! I have a small library going already, and whenever I have money it always ends up in the cash register of Borders/Barnes & Noble/Half Price Books/Changing Hands/etc.

My one and only everything is Eric. We live together with our 6 “children” (5 crazy cats and an obese dog). He is absolutely everything I could ever want in a mate, and more! He is a genius (he learns about theoretical physics for FUN), freakishly good looking (his eyes STILL melt my heart), incredibly sweet (he buys me unsolicited gifts/does the dishes/etc), and SOOO supportive… He has seen me at my absolute rock bottom and didn’t run for the hills like most guys would. Every single day I ask myself how I was so lucky to end up with him….. He is my other half, and I love him with all my heart. I can’t even find the words to express how grateful I am to be lucky enough to be his girlfriend fiancée!
OK. I’ll stop with all the sappiness now…..

I have a chronic pain problem called Interstitial Cystitis aka “painful bladder syndrome.” I have had dibilatating “flares” over the past 5 years. Luckily, I got an awesome urologist whose helped me get it somewhat under control! At any rate, having a chronic pain problem has really opened my eyes to what is important in life and all the things I took for granted before. Now I try to live my life to the fullest as much as possible! I find a lot more joy in the little things now than I did before. So at least something good came out of it, right? Oh, and for the record: I can hold my pee just fine! For whatever reason, people equate “painful bladder” to mean “bladder incontinence” – I DO NOT WET MYSELF. jeez…..

I am thankful for every second I get to experience in this amazing world I live in. Don’t I sound like a nauseating hippie?
And now, a few pictures.. just because I can.
