Ch-ch-ch-changes

Lots of stuff has been happening!
First of all, on May 27th my baby brother graduated from Highland High School! I can’t believe it. Not that he’s stupid or anything (quite the opposite) – I just can’t believe my little "Boo" is a high school grad! Almost 18! Time flies… I’m so happy for him and so proud! Luboo!!!!

In other news, Eric and I went to Vegas to see Flight of the Conchords. They were in Phoenix a while ago, but Eric got sick at the last minute and we weren’t able to go. He felt really bad and surprised me with this trip to make up for it 🙂 The concert was AMAZING. They played a bunch of old favorites and a few new (hilarious) songs. We both grinned/cracked up like an idiot the entire time. You need that once in a while, you know?
We stayed at the Venetian again. GOD I love that hotel! We got $25 of slot credits with our room reservation, so we decided to try gambling for the first time. After $6 we stopped due to boredom and never spent the rest, lol. We went to the Cabo Wabo cantina (Cabo is my fav alcoholic drink) a couple times and got blasted on delicious margaritas. All in all, it was just the relaxing weekend we needed. And this trip is just more evidence that I have the best fiancé in the world. Just sayin’…

I suppose the craziest news is that.. Eric and I finally got our house!!! It only took 14 months of waiting, despairing, yelling at the bank, etc… but really, it was worth the wait. We signed the papers a little over a week ago and moved in IMMEDIATELY afterwards. We’re still not done moving – turns out we have a lot of crap. However, we’ve bought most of our furniture AND put it together. The most recent thing we got was our patio set, and the "no assembly required" sticker just about brought me to tears (of happiness). Damn you IKEA! (I still love you<3)
The most difficult thing to move were my books. Books are rather heavy en masse. They are currently strewn all over our front room/dining room while I work on cataloging and arranging them (see picture). I’m kind of putting that off until later this week when Eric is out of town for an actuary seminar) for 5 days. Arranging my books will keep my mind (some-what) off missing my love 😦
Basic info on the house: in Gilbert, 3 bedroom, 1650 square feet, pool/spa, awesome, cantbelieveitsfinallyours. The rest you will have to find out when Eric and I throw our housewarming party 😛 … or when I post pics eventually.

Nine Inch Nails concert!

(this picture was taken by someone else at the concert… credit goes to them of course, but I don’t know who they are!)

March 15th Eric and I went to the NIN show at Cricket Pavilion.  We saw a few people we know, bought some over priced shirts, and woke up the next day feeling like we got in a fight with Angry Trent Reznor (and lost, of course). As always, it was an amazing show. The setlist was INCREDIBLE. They even played The Fragile! We had reeeally good seats because we got pre-sale tickets like the SECOND they went on sale.
You know what I love about NIN concerts? We always end up making these weird intense connections with the people next to us. At this show there were two girls next to me… after the first song we were screaming “THIS IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!!” and jumping around/dancing/head banging/etc with each other. By the second one she was screaming “THE THREE OF US WANT TO BEAR YOUR CHILDREN!” (amongst other things) to Trent while we laughed hysterically and made exhibitions of ourselves. And by the third song… we were planning a four-some sex tape with Trent which my future husband, for some reason, objects to (I think he’s just feeling left out…).

That’s all I’m going to say about it for two reasons. 1) NIN shows are always beyond words and 2) I have a fever at the moment. So does Eric. We’ve been watching Family Guy and South Park all day, like winners.
Hopefully we are better by tomorrow because we are seeing Flight of the Conchords!

Ok It’s been a while since I’ve updated. I’ve ended one class (literature) and started another (history)

First and formost, I saw Sicko with Eric and Boo the day it came out. Oh. My. God. It was AMAZING. I basically cried the entire time… I’ve had a lot of issues with health insurance, and there is basically nothing in the world I hate more than the American health insurance system. Due to my chronic pain condition, I have to take several meds and go to many doctor visits. Even with insurance, it all REALLY adds up. Just ONE of my medication costs me $50 a month with insurance. If I didn’t have insurance it would be $300 a month – just for ONE kind of medication I take. The only reason I have insurance is because I’m a full time student. There were two semesters in the past where I was in too much pain to be a full time student, so I lost my insurance. My poor parents spent more money in medical bills than I’d like to even think about. It enraged me. The people who can be full time students are NOT the ones who need health insurance the most! Just a week or two ago I really wanted to go to the ER because I was in a boat load of pain, but I couldn’t afford the co-pay so I couldn’t go.
Anyway, the movie was amazing. Not only did it show how shitty the American health care system is, but it showed how much better other health care systems are in other countries like Canada, England, France, and even Cuba! If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend that you do!

On a happier note, Eric and I started watching the new HBO series “Flight of the Conchords
My mom and her boyfriend Scott watched it and said it was HORRIBLE so we’ve been putting it off for a long time. We finally sat down and watched it…
OH MY JESUS. IT’S HILARIOUS!!!!!! It’s one of the funniest shows I have ever seen.
It’s technically a “musical” but it’s not a traditional musical by any means. it’s full of music because the two New Zealand guys in it are a real band and it’s a show about them trying to make it big. HOWEVER, all their songs are like parodies of popular music genres and … you just have to watch them to really get what it’s all about.
So I’m going to post one of their songs… It took me a long time to decide which one – i picked The Humans Are Dead. It’s supposed to be “like daft punk”
I’m going to post the “music video” they made in the show (with the camera on a camera phone), and also the live version. I think the live version is better (it has more stuff in it), BUT only after you’ve seen the music video… so it’s worth it to watch both!!
